Metallic overwrap

I was considering wrapping guides w/ HT Metallic A thread. Has anyone had success using this for guide wraps? I done underwraps with A. I have a lami with maroon metallic underwraps. I think overwrap of same with gold trim bands would look good. I figure somebody has either tried this .

Using metalic as an overwrap usually results in the thread "grinning" or opening up leaving small spaces letting the underwrap show through, unslightly result. If you're dead set to do this try it in "A" using a second layer to cover the gaps. After epoxi it will look great.

A size thread is fine for an overwrap but, instead of stopping at the guide foot and tying off there, run the thread back down to where you started. Any small gaps in the thread will be covered on the way back down the wrap, plus you get two layers for a strong wrap. I even do my surf rods this way using size D thread.
