OH MAN!

Finally finished wrapping the 1209 I've been working on. I know in the long run I'm going to love this stick and I'm not gonnna care what it looks like, but man I wish I had run the colors by people on the board before I epoxied.

I'll try to get some pics up if I can later.

I used a red metallic underwrap and then grey for the guide wrap. I thought the grey would be lighter than the red, but I was wrong. The grey looks flat and dull in spots.

This was also the first rod I wrapped only with size a thread. Harder to work with, but if the wraps are nice and tight man do they look good!

Do most of you use lighter underwraps and then darker guide wraps?

Much Thanks!

All A thread baby!!

I do aa double overwrap on a rod like that.

Incredibly strong and looks flawless when you get done.

You have to put a thin coat of finish on each layer to get it really perfect.

BTW I'd think grey over red would be nice, but a bit subdued icon14.gif

3A wraps and 3 coats of finish...you got waaaay too much time on your hands CD! Better finish all that wrapping and make some time for weakfish!

I tried a picture, but it didn't come out right. I'll try later.

The red is fine.

The grey looks fine in spots, but in other spots it looks flat/dull. Maybe the wraps were not tight enough together and the darker spots are where the epoxy seeped in between the threads?

Doing the guide wraps in A was a pain. I won't be doing it again soon. I think if you had smaller guides it would be easier.

i used all A wraps on both of my 1213m's...black over 2 different shade of teal blue...granted black overwraps take some of the guess work out of it, but hey, they were my first 2 sticks...
