Reel seat position

I was wondering where people put the reel seat on a conventional. I understand that some guys dont use a seat so they can switch reels and move positions so the rod is always balanced. But what I was wondering is if you put the seat where the rod is balanced or where you feel most comfortable casting with it. As an example the rod may be balanced with the reel 24 inches up the blank but I can cast better with it because it feels better in my hands, 20 inches up the blank. Just wondering what other people do. And then wondering how you achieve that balance, do you put everything on the rod temporarily and then move the seat around till it feels best?

One problem with placing the seat so it's balanced is, it only works forever after with reels of about the same weight. Swtiching from a 14 oz Newell to a 21 oz Abu BG 7000CL will throw it out of balance.

I place mine where it's comfortable for casting.

To get over the balance part, just put some lead in the butt. Putting extra weight wont make the rod feel heavier, when balanced you will get less wrist fatigue, and the reel will be in a comfortable spot...ya cant go wrong
