El Cheapo Cod Stick, Shakespear GBU 120-6!

Greetings Al:

The last time I went Codfishin' the guy I went up with used a Ugly Stick BWB1120 which is made from the GBU-120-6. This is a modestly priced rod! I witnessed him land a bunch of teen sized pollack as well as a 21 pound cod with this rod on 16 oz jigs in 270 ft of water and I have to tell you... I was duly impressed at how this cheap rod performed.

I know that you have built and fished a few of these Al... What did you think? How well does this stick hold up? I know it won't break, but does it fatigue after awhile? Did you like this rod?

A cod stick for under $80... Im still shakin' my head!

Prefessa,

Great stick that I fished alot up on the Indian in Kennebunkport in the 70's.

GBU120-6

Cod bait stick for Coxes - Trim tip to #12.

Deepwater Jigging

- up to 14 ounces trim tip to #14

- 16-24 ounces trim tip to #16

Trim up from the butt to 7.5-8 feet depending on your preference. I liked mine about 7.25 feet since I am short.

Cork tape the butt, Fuji #22 seat and 3M safety tape the foregrip area over the cork tape. Fuji BULG or NSG guides with a UST tip.

Match up with a big Newell reel and 50# Power Pro and you are set.

Al
