Guide spacing

Hi Al;

Question are all guides spaced the same on like sized rods? Lami, Seeker, St. Croix, 10' rods etc. Are all the striper guides lets say x amount of inches away from the reel seat, or does each rod manufacturer have different specs? Reason for asking is I was told I could make a drawing of a finished rod and copy those spec to a rod I try and build.

TD,

The guide spacing on a rod is determined by a number of factors, such as:

- Spinning or conventional

- The blank's action - slow vs. fast

- The size of the reel you will be using

- the weight and stiffness of the line you

will be using.

- Whether the rod will be primarily for

distance casting or a fishing fighting

tool.

These are the primary ones to consider. Even when building two rods on identical blanks you should do the guide placement separately for each blank.
