SEAFARI
Im having a Ron Arra 1322 and a 1204 built this winter. Reels will be a VS 250 & 200. I like the look of the Black chrome wire guides. Has anyone used these on the Arra blanks? Are they good for distance? Using braid I have a 1321 M with these and they seem to hold up well. surfrat59
They'd probably look good on an old S glass, I'm thinking deep Garnet red wraps with gold metallic trim Still plenty of time to decide Chris, I won't be starting on it for awhile yet... canyondiver
If you are going to use braid, I'd go with a set of Alconites. Price is modest and they won't get chewed up like the steel guides. Have fun with the rods! Proud to be a NERB and I have the shirts to prove it!! Matty Fish
I use them as a stripper guide before running SiC's the rest of the way up. Fished them the last couple of seasons and no problems yet with the braid.
SeaWolf
as canyon said, you do not want wire-type guides (pac bay or perfection) when using braid on a reel. simple no reason for it. if you choose to use mono and want that classic appearance, wire can be an option. but, it's really tough to be today's ceramic guides.
