Guide Sizing for Sabre 967

Hi Al,

I am going to build a Sabre 967 and wanted to know the sizing for the guides. It will be a spinning blank w/ a reel spooled with braids. Does the use of braids allow the use of smaller guides? Thanks for your help!

The Sabre 967 is an 8 foot blank rated from 1-3 ounces. It would probably make a good jetty stick or boat casting and eeling rod.

The size of your stripper guide will be determined by the size of the face of the spinning reel. Not knowing the reel you intend to use I could only guess at the size of the stripper guide.

Also, if you intend to fish around jetty on other rocky areas then I would recommend double footed guides like the Fuji BSVLG's. I probably would go with a 40 stripper guide to start.

If you intend to cast from a boat with a smaller reel and lighter line then you can go with the Fuji BYLG single foot high frame guides starting with a size 30.

Hope this helps.

Al
