working with cork

Al,

why does all cork come with such small diameter openings? I guess it doesnt make a big issue when building lighter rods but fitting cork to a surf stick is a task.

Whats the best way to "ream" the cork out to the desired size when my ream wont even fit into the initial opening? Thanks,

BH

BunkerHead,

If you don't do a lot of rods maybe this is an easy way out of your dilemma.

In lieu of real reamers.

Get scrap/old/broke/yard sale rods of different tapers/diameters.

Go to Hardware store get 3M Safety Walk Abrasive tread stuff 3/4" or 1" peel and spiral wind this on rod pieces as required to ream your cork grip.

You can buy it by the foot.

You don't have to wait for epoxy to cure etc.

Quick and easy!

Have Fun.
