Alcohol Lamp problem

I filled one of the Clemens lamps with rubbing alcohol (70% alcohol). It burned OK once the alcohol wicked to the top, but two days later, I couldn't get it to stay lit. The wick is plenty wet, but lights for a few seconds and then peters out. Is denatured alcohol better? If not, what to do? Thanks in advance.
