Rainshadow 1502 Trim the tip or not?

Rate this topic

My dad got a hold of a Rainshadow 1502 blank from a friend real cheap, and he is getting ready to build it.

Does this blank need to be trimmed to handle 8-n-bait without blinking?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

If the action is the same as the Lami 1502 I cut 3" off the tip on mine and it throws GREAT. The rods built in Hatteras by Red Drum Tackle are not cut at all, unless on request. I've seen these rods cut from 2" - 5".

I would tape the guides on and throw it uncut. If it works for you leave it. If not think about cutting it down.

Sold mine to Tomass, wish I had it back.

I had that blank built conventional without cutting it and it casts great. I have another blank and can't decide whether to go convention or spinning. Cutting may be an option also but it is rated at 4-12oz
