Using low rider guides, set up for spinning on a Purglas 350-1 can anyone tell me what distance is recommended from the reel face to the first guide? Thanks in advance. Mike

Remember to consider the type of line you will be using as your primary. I always lay out my guides on any rod I do. I start with a graded spacing, stress& flex then move them test again. I have found every blank has enough variables that this is an important step every time. I like to use the fewest that distribute the load and by working back from the tip you begin to see if the gatherer guide has the proper load. I have found that you can keep a fair distance from reel to guide if the rod is stiff. But one thing to keep in mind if the rod has a fixed reel seat is to use the type of reel that is to be used on the rod, that way the spool size and stem height can be figured exactly.
