I know this topic has been touched on before, but does anyone know of any studies (formal or not) conducted comparing the performance of identical flyrod blanks using these two different guide types?

Yes, studies have been done albeit not very scientific. They showed that the single foot ceramics performed better than the snake guides.

The only drawback with the ceramic guides was icing up when winter steelhead fishing.

By better performance, I'm assuming greater distance achieved? If so, how dramatic is the difference? For example, will it improve an otherwise, say, 60' cast to 100'? 80'? 70'?

Also, how was the action of the rod affected?

Thanks for your patience.
