Al,

I just wanted to clarify guide selection for a GSB 1081M. According to your article, it seems to fall between BSVLG's and YSG's. Can I use a mix? Can you suggest a mix? I know that have probably built a bunch of these rods, What is you typicall set of guides as a bucktail spinning rod from the surf?

Thanks,

Phil

Good Morning Phil,

It depends on the reel and line weight you will be using and whether you will be fishing around rocks. If you are going to fish in a rocky area and for general sturdiness go with the BSVLG's. If you are going to fish sandy beaches then the YSG is the way to go.

Yes you can mix them. A good selection would be BSVLG 40, 30, 25 then the standard single foot, not the YSG, in 20, 16 with a BPST tip with a 20 ring.
