Hi Al,

Al....

I always wrap My 1083 Via Ron Arra specs.

But this time Im goin single foot..

I started out with a #20 ring Tip, I like them on the surf.

I only fit 4 guides on 3 single and 1 double

Thats a #50.

I sight down the rod and it looks good...

The Ron Arra specs use 4 guides and a tip also.

I can stress test a conventional, quite frankly thats all I use to use....

How do You stress test a spinner, I invert rod and pull line through it.

I gave the rod a bend and it seems fine to me.

I did wrap one a 4 years ago with 5 guides and Tip But the arra specs made the rod cast further.

The double foot on The blank Im wrapping now is Higher up the bland and falls into Your placement specs and so does the 1st guide from tip....

should I go 4 it Al. its all Marked to wrapbiggrin.gif

Thanks in advance and I follow Your Building guide on sol.

Dave....

Dave,

If you are going to use the 50 braced guide then go to single foot guides an keep it to four guides and a 20 ring tip, then I would go 50,30,25.20 and the tip.

Space the 30 and the 25 guides so that when you load the rod in a fish fighting position at 45 degrees, the blank loads smoothly and the line passes from guide to guide at not too sharp an angle. You should not have a problem since the blank is nine feet long. Any longer and you would need to add another guide.

Al

BM,

If you wrapped down to a #16 guide then swap the tip for a #16 ring. It will be lighter and give you better performance.

Your thanks are more than enough. Yesterday's workshop had more then 50 beginning rod builders there. The smile on their faces at the end of the day and their enthusiasm to start building a rod is all that I wanted.

Al
