Sinle foot guides on a conventional rod

I have used single foot guides on a conventional rod. Typically the stripper and the next guide are double footed and the remaining guides are single foot.

Whether you use single or double foot guides on a conventional rod is primarily a factor of durability and rod performance. Fuji has even come out with a heavy duty single foot boat guide.

I put a spiral wrap on a Calstar GX7. The 6 guides underneath (on the 180 degree axis) are all single foot Fuji guides, size 8. The rod works very well. There is much less pressure on the running guides than you would think.
