I need help choosing the best blank money can buy. Any input would really be appreciated.

- Conventional style

- Between 12'6"-14', 2pcs

- Lure weight ~4oz range

- ~15# mono

- Firm butt section, fast tip (able to feel small bites)

Planing to use with

- Reel: daiwa grandwave-Z 20 or PENN 525MAG ???

- Guides: FUJI SIC w/ Ti frame.

Want to get good distance. I've been looking at Zziplex 4500 and V Max F3 but don't have much clues about their characteristics or purposes.

Thanks ahead!!!!!

take a look at a conoflex phantom 45xl

breakaway 1418

breakaway 1447

just a few that come to mind..

does the 4 oz include bait? or 4 oz plus bait...

plugging or putting the rod in a spike?

another good option may be purglas 400-2

Thumb_Burner,

It's 4oz + bait and on spike. The bait I used would be just two small pieces of anchovy or worm. That's why I ignored it.

The Purglas has 1.24" butt dia. Wouldn't it be beter if they design the surface of the butt section with dimples like a golf ball to reduce the wind resistance??

I do mostly off-ground casting but trying to learn the pendulum right now. The type of fish includes: striper, ray, shark and sturgeon. I caught was 27" striper last week with Lucky Craft lure and custom spinning Hot Shot Rogue rod.

I'll check out the cono-flex.

By the way, what do you think about Century's Kompressor, Carbon metal and Tip Tornado??

Thanks!!!

Your question, "The best blank money can buy" is really a tuff one. If your looking to pendulum cast 4 oz the Vmax F2 is as sweet as it gets. the Synchro is another good choice. BUt please remember and this is extremly important in choosing a blank. THERE IS NO MAGICAL ROD. What works extremly well for me may not for you. But the 2 rods mentioned really are tremendous stick for 4 oz work. I would be happy to do into more detail with you. Send me a PM and we can exchange phone numbers so we can talk. there is just way to uch information to try and type. Cheers Big Dave
