GUIDES FOR THE 108 1M

Al,

Can you please tell me what guides you believe I should use for constructing the 108 1M rod? I do a ton of surf-casting and while I just made the same rod for the South Shore, I'm looking to make the most durable 9' for my Montauk excursions. What are the best guides you recommend/what sizes/etc?

Thank you very much for your help, Al.

For Spinning:

Fuji Hardaloy or SIC BSVLG or SVSG in the following sizes: 40HH, 30H, 25M, 20M plus an SIC tip with a 20 ring.

For Conventional:

Fuji Hardaloy or SIC BHNLG or HNSG:

20, 16, 12, 12, 10, 10, 10, 10 and an SIC tip with a 10 ring.

Some guys like to put a 25mm stripper guide on their 9' conventionals, but Causeway did my first Sabre 1088 with a 20, and it works just fine and dandy smile.gif

Al, do they make a tip with a size 10 ring and about an 8 or 9 tube size? I'm looking to put a little bigger tip guide on some of the rods I have with tips smaller than 10/64, so a decent sized barrel swivel will pass thru without having to cut and retie if I swap reels.

AL:

How would you space the guides on the 108 1M surf fishing (spinning) rod?

Say....from the tip assuming I'm using a VS 200 reel and it is placed around 23.5 inches from the butt.

Thanks for your help, AL.
