Metallic Threads

Al,

I had to strip all the guides and thread off the St. Croix I tried to rewrap. The finish never really cured, even after recoating with properly mixed finish. Too bad, it was the final coat.

Anyways, back to the question. I was thinking of using all metallic thread on the wraps, including the overwraps (size

D). Is the metallic thread acceptable for use as overwraps or should I stick with the regualr nylon thread?

You can use Gudbrod HT Metallic Thread for the overwraps but make sure it is HT (High Tensile Strength) as the non HT is not strong enough. As for the thread size there is no need to use D as the strength from the thread wraps comes from the number of wraps per inch. Because of this size A thread can be used for 99% of guide wrapping. I use size A for everythign except heavy Tuna and Marlin sticks. Tight wraps.
