Krylon Paint Type

For my first attempt at rodbuilding I'm in the process of refinishing an old fiberglass boat rod which has been in the family a while. I've taken off the guides and stripped the blank (using 3M "Safest Strip" and a stripper pad) down to the bare white fiberglass. I want to color the blank a honey gold color. I see from my search of previous threads that folks have had success with Krylon paint, then coat with Permagloss.

Finally, my question: What kind of Krylon paint? Enamel, lacquer, epoxy, automotive? Also, anyone ever have any luck with tinting the Permagloss before application? I've heard of people using Testor's paint as a pigment.
