Kayaking in PR

3 posts in this topic

Hey guys just got back from Puerto Rico, spent most of my time Surfing, had great waves every day! I did manage 1 trip down to Cabo Rojo on the southwest tip & rented a Ocean Yak (very stable I might add) to fish the Mangroves. Here is where I got the rental, check the water clarity smile.gif

The yaks were 25$ each for a 2.5 hour period in the evening, unfortunately I was told that the night was the best time to fish (guy had a 22 lb Tarpon off the dock the night before) & my buddy did not want to hang around due to the swells on the north coast. Anyway I did manage 1 small cuda & one nice Tarpin about 36" to 40" long , after the third unbelievable jump (I had know idea how high they could actually jump) it came unbottoned frown.gif . I got him on a small zara spook, don't really know what I did wrong, may have been the small hooks & the little bit of slack line?

I will make it a point to stay there overnight next year & come back with some better stories & photos smile.gif

I also managed 1 peacock bass in a freshwater Reservoir. For any of you guys looking for a quick get away thats not too expensive I highly reccomend Puert Rico!
