Block Island

37 posts in this topic

Going on a three day fishing trip to the Block tommorrow. I know the obvious yaking spot is the mouth of the pond. Has anyone here ever yakfished the southern and western sides of the island? Figured you could launch at Old Harbor and round the points that way. Thanks for any input.

Dave sea conditions will dictate which side/areas you can fish.

Mouth of Pond is a hot spot for FA & Bones.

You can also paddle across pond and carry across beach to get to the other side.

Just work the shorline boulder fields with the T&W till you find em.

Like Cuttyhunk you wont always find em on the Points.Look for bowls amongst the boulders .

Give the outside corners of the bowl the most attention.

Good luck and stay safe.

Soundfisher will post the pics, 3 great days of tons of quality bass, the tunoids were absent. Weather was 70 degrees three days straight with no wind, making the island very hospitable. The surf bite was non existant, although we did not try to hard. Bed time for me.

18" homemade red tube with sandworm trolled about 150' behind with no weight. If anyone goes, bring sandworms as they are not sold on island.I had one fish snap a brand new Gamakatsu hook in half at the bend, a first for me.Also picked up a tagged fish.
