Camping at Harker's

6 posts in this topic

Yesterday at the "Shady Rest" get together Bobpop was telling me that they have a ferry out to Harker's Island and you can camp there. Sounds like a great place to do a trip for albies in the fall.

You take the ferry from Harkers and get out to the banks. It's not a bad paddle a all with the right wind/weather. You want to watch the warm weather months if the wind is expected from the mainland. The green heads will eat you alive. Like nothing you ever delt with. Repellent dont do squat with them. Blackflies are a walk in the park compared to these guys.

If no flies, its a good time. No sleep, mind you. How can you sleep when you can fish 24 hours a day. Gotta keep a couple of lines in all night from shore, fish all day. Really horrible way to spend a couple days.
