Maiden Voyage Cobra Expedition

I just got back from playing with a new toy. First lesson learned. An StS fishing seat doesn't work with this baby. I couldn't get stable and dumped immediately. Back band's the way to go but I didn't have one with me so I paddled for app. 20 minutes without anything. Its fast. After a little bit I got use to it. I've never been in a yak this long and narrow. 18' by 23.5". It was fun. It'll be at the fling.

Jon: thanks for your report; clarification: the back band is available at say, Barrell's place, and do you need to rivet the hull straps?

I have a backband. I just didn't have it in the truck with me. I'm not sure aobut the hull straps.

It definately is a low seating position. IMHO this kayak is on the edge of the SOT fishing spectrum. There are guys that are using them on the west coast and they have to launch them through the surf. I dont know of anyone around here that's using one for fishing. I have it for a few weeks to play with so play we will.
