Roof racks and how to:

2 posts in this topic

I broke down and finally bought a truck(Ford Explorer), the truck has a built in rack. My question is what is the best way to tie down my Yak??? The rack runs side to side, not front to back!

I have tie down straps that I got from Barrell, which I used when I had my car. I fooled around with a few diff ways, but none really works all that well.

Any suggestions

Thanks in advance

Fever, Place the boat, keel down, bow first. Take the 15 straps annd put them evenly arounnb bars on one side of car. You should be hoolding both ends in your hannnd with 7 1/2 feet running to and under the tower. Now walk around the front of car and flick straps over yak. Place end without buckle under bar and adjust so bucklle is on ttop of gunwale. Put loose strap through buckle and pull doown till keel is slightly dented. Throw a couple half hitches and repeat the process at other end. If you dont understand send me a fax number and ill fax a scetch.
