Jim Stuff ya need

1.Waders

2.Corkers

3.Big Black Net cant be more than 36 inches across or deep.

4.Big rod gotta be able to chuck a 10 oz herring and a 3-6 oz weight

5.Big Reel I have a Shimamo 6500 Baitrunner.I spool it up with 14 pd whiplash (65 pd test )

6.50-60 pd flurocarbon leader.Dont have to retie as often with the heavy stuff.Also holds up to the thrashing its gonna take.

7.Box of 60-80pd barrel swivels

8.Box of circle hooks,non offset (I gut hooked about 5 out of 70 with the Gami offset ones will change to non offset this year).

9.Headlamp (Will be doing more night fishing this year)

10.Floating fish basket(got them in bass pro)

11.2 5 gallon buckets in case you gotta transport your bait to another spot

12.A worm binder or a lure bag with the plastic zip lock bags so you can pre tie all your rigs.(saves much time)

13.Assortment of sinkers 1-6 oz

14.Some one who knows the spots biggrin.gif

15.A wife who will let ya stay out all night.icon15.gif

 

Oh Ya I do Friday night fishin every Friday 3pm to 2 am till herring season is over so get her ready.

Jon In my spot it starts around May lasts till 3rd Sat. in June.Thats when the state shuts it down.Its a crazy month and 1/2.Only 3 1/2 months till it starts smile.gif

What rivers are you hitting? Mostly the Connecticut? Does the Hous. get a good run, too? I've not fished much in the spring--was away a lot last spring, and spring before that still living in the mid-west chasing steelhead. I assume you're fishing for stripers on herring? Sorry for lack of knowledge. Anyone fly fish for them at this time? How big are the herring?
