A SOT I can stand up in

8 posts in this topic

I use my current yak (a well used, much loved Perception Keowee) a lot down south for redfish, but sight fishing from a sitting position is tough. Who stands up on their SOT and what kind do you have? I tried an OK Malibu this weekend that seemed pretty stable, but what else is out there?

I have a Cobra Fish-N-Dive--It's very wide, but it IS a kayak. I've stood up on it near the beach messin' around, but I wouldn't risk my gear just to get a better vantage point. Sounds like you might need a boat for that.

Get thee to an Ocean Kayak dealer and get an Ambush. You can stand up in it, holds 800 lbs but the craft is on the heavy side at 100 lbs.

Doug, Try the Sea Wings on your present yak first....might save you some $$$$

I have them on my Heritage Sea Dart. When inflated it changes the effective width from 28" to 40". I have yet to water test this rig as yet. I had it up at the fly fling but was too busy to launch the yak.

So many plastic boats ....so little time wink.gif

Looks like the pontoon/ Sea Wing idea may be the way to go for now, but the OK Drifter looks to be the replacement for the Keowee. Thanks, all.
