OK to fish in the rain?

8 posts in this topic

I've fished in torrential downpours, but if there's a chance of lightning I'm out of there. Of course ScottO will tell you I don't always get off the water fast enough. After one lecture from the condescending Mr.O I checked out the distance you have to be from a T-Storm to be struck by lightning. Turns out you can get struck from many, many miles away (that's courtesy of the national weather center in DC).

Man SII you make me sound like your mother...now go wash behind your ears and get ready for bed! smile.gif

seriously, I think we both learned the storm doesn't have to be "close" to for the lightening to be dangerous.

I belive the distance I was quoted was approximately 20 miles from a T-Storm lighting can still impact you. Scary!

Of course if you're there when it happens lots of fish float to the surface.
