fox tail

What type of fox? If a red or kit fox, it's good for shrimp & crabs flies in the natural colors. It's easily dyed too.

Good for small Clousers also or tailing on sand eel patterns. I tie with fox tail quite a bit, but I also tie freshwater flies. I like it for crayfish patterns for bass, but I tie a lot of saltwater patterns (bonefish & redfish patterns) & use them for bass too.

Gray fox is OK, and was a popular hair for salmon flies, but not so much for saltwater. The guard hairs on a gray fox tail are quite stiff. It has it's uses I'm sure. I've yet to find a material I couldn't use eventually.

Shrimp clousers :th: .

Tie up some small (#4 or #2) clousers with fox, a little flash and eyes just heavy enough to have it sink eyes down. I assume you are talking red fox, but grey would work too.
