New Zealand brown trout!!!

I'll bet that's a sea run brown. They have some very large rivers (the Clutha on the South Island, for example) which have trout all the way to the ocean, even if they are too big to fish in a reasonable manner.

I spent 3 wonderful weeks in Southland fishing the Mataura and Oreti Rivers back in 1974. The best fishing we had was a few miles downstream of a sheep processing plant with greasy foam on the surface of the water.

We used primarily dry flies, fish up to 8.5# although we all saw much bigger ones. I've been itching to go back ever since.

I heard it was caught right next to a fish farm.

Actually a salmon farm........

They think it was gorging it's self on fish food pellets..........
