Cape Cod Monomoy - First Time

2 posts in this topic

Hi Guys,

I had the treat of visiting some friends on CapeCod this weekend. I fished the flats of Monomoy for the first and notice a few things.

1. It's huge! We fished 6 hours and covered less than 1% of the first of two islands.

2. It's fishy! First time I ever fished by spotting. Saw over 50 stripers. Nothing like seeing a 30" plus striper in 2 ft of water!

3. They spook easy! Fish almost always saw me first. The young ones would come close and stick the tongue out at me.

4. Lucky lure - Thanks to Jon's suggestion on lures, I managed to land a dozen bass and an acrobatic blue.

5. Flyfishing heaven! I have seen no place better in the Northeast for Saltwater flyfishing. Like being out on the Florida Keys.

Those of you that have been there remember your first visit.

I look forward to getting back out there and fishing it with some of you veterans there this year.
