Lake Assunpink & Xmas Trees

I'm heading to Lake Assunpink for the first time, and I noticed on a few maps that they created many habitats out of xmas trees.  Does anyone know how the fish behave around habitats like that?  Bury inside?  Stay in the surrounding area? Both?  I've never fished anything similar.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I have spent years making structure with Xmass trees ---- ranging from a tree or two dumped at one spot to 2 dozen at another. Some spots are quite productive depending upon location. In the beginning I did not give much taught to it. Eventually, I mapped out a strategy with creek beds and flats and points. The deep water reef will produce winter and summer when nothing else will. I fish it selectively when there is less pressure from other folks ---- had some dunce pulling up trees with his anchor.

Fish in it, around it, above it.
