Got 2 reels and would like to know if grease is added between washers and drag washers. A Calcutta 400 and a Saltiga Z 4500. I am thinking yes but not positive. Thanks. Paul

Yes, but you do need a teflon based grease (drag grease) as it will withstand heat and not degrade. Pertroleum based greases will "cook" and create a sticky drag.

You don't need much, just saturate the washers then wipe it off so that a very thin film remains.

What John said, but too much grease will create slippage.

I have used both Cals's and Shimano drag grease with the same results but have switched over to Cal's due to being able to source it cheaper. You don't need a whole lot of the stuff but the excess will just squeeze out of the stack when you increase the drags-so don't worry about having a little too much on the washers.
