Looking to replace Penn 420 and 430 SSGs

From Penn website, looks like tehse are no longer for sale.

I have a couple 430s and one 420.

What is a good replacement for these reel sizes?

The 420 is perfect for light brackish/salt water fishing. Corrosion is non-existent after about 6 years.

Wish the gear ratio was better, as it takes forever to reel in..

420 has brought in stripers to 28" as well. Great little reel.

So what is the best Penn replacement?

Mike,

Take a look at the Battle 1000 and 2000 reels. Size and weight are similar to the 420/430ssg.

Loving my Battle 2000! Just right to balance an all star 6' med/fast rod I have had for a while. It got a workout yesterday and perfomed as advertised. I don't see any line lay, drag or cranking issues. I may be picking up a 1000 shortly.

Thanks for the update Mike.
