cheech
Great distance like the Penn 525 mag, and about 5 ounces lighter. I swapped out the 5.3:1 and put the 6.3:1 gear in it . That Abu does it all! Tis better to remain silentĀ and thought the fool, than to speakĀ and remove all doubt.
Awesome John
Know as "The Green machine" that Abu is a casting monster.. The Horizon Calls..........
jimmy z
If you need a mag, than it's the ticket! Learn on this and move to non mag reels. You'll get better distance! smallbatch9
if you don't use a mag..........then what controls the speed of your spool.......please don't say thumb and distance in the same sentence here......

My friend, when I learned to cast a Penn 155 in the early 1970's, the spool was controlled by feathering it with my thumb! I still use these reels and other conventionals, and still feather the spool with my thumb. Now, with the Abu's I use the cast control knobs to control how i want my spool to act on a cast. But 9 out of 10 times folks backlash their reels when their plug/weight hits the water and the spool runs on.Ā AKN-2 USS Sagittarius BE ENCOURAGING, NOT DISCOURAGING <*((())))>< <*((())))><
smallbatch9
Penn 155 vs a Penn 525 mag.................really?......
jimmy z
One, no two more factors that play into distance. One being the rod and the other being the plug or rig you're throwing. jimmy z
I can get good distance with a 155 and I can get good distance with a 525. Now, what's the question?
