Economic Freedom

is a phrase that means nothing concrete,

and people are using the the phrase and assigning whatever meaning they wish to it.

It's lame to create your own definition of something,

and then use your definition to "prove" a point.

It's lame to ignor the underlying reasons that people are seeking economic relief.

It's lame to brush off those causes because they don't fit your agenda.

hahahaha,

people are moving,

YOU and others are deciding WHY they are moving.......

Unless you have some poll data to share, you are making it up,

and while assigning motive to people, you are using BS phrases like "Economic Freedom" which has no set definition and means whatever the hell someone wants it to mean.

Personal freedom is the ability to do what you want to,

any laws which limit your ability to do as you wish would be an infringement on your personal freedom.

the more rules and regulations you have, the less personal freedom you have.

but even that is subjective.

there can be 100 laws which all deal with basically the same minor issue, which doesn't really impact your personal freedom much,

or you can have a few laws which have a GREAT impact on your freedom.

So it's always going to be a bit subjective as people try to figure out how to quantify the impact on your personal freedom.

At the end of the day just follow the money and you will discover why people are moving.

It's really that simple.

They are both ambiguous and subjective. Hence much of the arguing about them. These freedoms don't mean the same thing to different people.

Now, if you want to say that people are moving in large numbers, they are most likely moving for:

*economic reasons (usually to gain a better job or to improve the value of the money they currently have)

*housing improvement (which is actually the #1 reason, according to the US census)

*quality of life - warmer weather, slower pace

So the question is, are the large numbers of people moving mainly from places that are economically similar to economic places that are have similar characteristics? Or housing availability? Or quality of life improvements?

Most likely it is some combination, but it could be measured and even charted. That would be very interesting and would tell us a lot about American's desires.

Liberals hate new buzzwords they didn't invent. It's like they think they have exclusive license to coin new phrases for their political agenda and get all pissy when they stumble across one they don't control and manipulate.

so you know that EVERYONE who moved did so for money?

really?

Look there is no doubt that Businesses will CHOOSE to leave an area with a high cost of living,

but ultimately, no matter where they move,

the cost of living will slowly rise, until the corporations choose to leave and set up shop in a cheaper area again,

then people will "flee" the red states.

Corporations can create endless cycles of boom and bust in regions, while maximizing their profits.

people will no doubt follow them around looking for jobs,

but moving in order to find a job when corporations relocate is NOT the same thing as fleeing the place you are from,

in fact I am sure that many people who feel they need to relocate are sad about the prospect of leaving their "home".

you can "coin" any phrase you want to,

but it's best if there was some limitations on the definition no?

language is funny that way, words are almost meaningless if the definition of the words and phrases aren't agreed upon.

right now it seems "economic freedom" can mean almost anything you want it to.

so many meanings, make it, meaningless.

You are missing the point entirely (not a surprise)

Why do some states have such a high cost of living? Could it be that the state and local governments are driving those costs?

Hmmm? You might be onto something there! I wonder why such a thing hasn't occurred to the liberals yet?

I'd say state and local government is responsible for a rather SMALL percentage of what drives a high cost of living,

DEMAND drives cost,

When labor is in demand, Salaries go up,

When housing is in demand, House prices go up,

It's really simple economics,

and Taxes reflect the high cost of living,

they don't drive it.

when you are in an area with a high cost of living,

you need more tax $$$ collected, cause stuff costs more.

all phrases have arbitrary meaning

the left's main weapon is hijacking the currently accepted meaning of phrases and twisting the meanings into their own.

Live by the sword die by the sword

if "right" phrases have no meaning then "left" phrases have no meaning as well.

All the right needs to do it pick up the sword.

Let's start with "fairness"

and "undocumented worker"

and "social justice"

and "working class"

and "capitalistic greed"

any other meaningless leftie phrases?
