Was given one of these reels and was wondering when they were produced. It needs a good cleaning but seems like It'd be a perfect back up reel.I've never really owned any Daiwa reels so I don't know much about them.Any info appreciated.

those reels were a mainstay of myself and all my friends back in the 80's,they were heavy duty horses that would winch inna gator like nothing was on the line.

I had several 1600-c,2600-c,4000-c and 7000-c.

kick ass reels, the only thing I hated about them was they had the "click".

great piece.

Hi Lureman,,

I sold all mine off when the gold series came out,I had both gold series and the black/gold series at the same time.

they are still fishable today and are brand new inside since I rebuilt them all fully[GS-3,GS-30,GS13 and BG-15].

I could stand the click now but, back then I would switch the AR off and hang on tight during the retrieve.
