LostOutdoors
I'm looking to fish for Blues and Stripers on headboats, both jigging and chunking. Maybe some wreck fishing for other species here and there. I recently won a Penn Spinfisher V 8500 and I picked up a Medium Fast 6' 6" Shimano Tallus. I might return the Tallus in favor of another rod, I'm not sure if a ML action has enough backbone for 5 or 6oz sinkers. I'll probably put 30lb or 40lb mono on my reel. Does this seem alright? Protect our fisheries and waters, don't litter!
Teezer77
Skip the mono and go with PowerPro. Thanks Capt. Eric Thomas
John P
Use a different rod,MH would be much better for 5oz or more. I wouldn't use a ML for anything more than 1oz work. I'm assuming there is bait involved as well.
