I'll start. This is the vernal pool at the end of my driveway. Yesterday it was void of life.

For a very short time, brown frogs will move in to perpetuate the species. The females will lay their egg sacks and as they lay them they will have males fertilizing them. From no frogs yesterday to hundreds today. Right now the females are "peeping and croaking" to attract the males (or the other way around  ).

In a week or so they will be gone, the only thing left will be the eggs. While they are breeding they will be easy meals for the hawks, ducks, and other wildlife. And if that's not enough hazards, the eggs have to hatch into tadpoles and turn into frogs before the vernal pool dries up.

Also saw the second red winged blackbird yesterday
