Penn speculation put to rest

From the looks of it there won't be an instant anti-reverse or long cast spool nor will it be waterproof. Here is the latest update from Penn

"Progress continues at the factory....704/706Z are being brought back due to popular demand. No changes will be made to the design of the reels....we want to have complete consistency between new and old reels so that parts interchange. More details to follow next week."

They are just bringing old tooling out of storage, and reusing it to make the same reel they made 30 years ago.  This is genius from a moneymaking standpoint.  No expensive R&D, no marketing, this reel already has a huge following.

Rossignol did the same thing with an older ski binding a few years ago.  The FKS bindings came back with a pricetag double their original msrp.

Used prices skyrocketed, if you could find them.
