Pier fishing cart tire resource!

Rate this topic

I've been wanting to build a fishing cart mainly for piers but I'd also like at least limited beach ability. Commercial carts seem outrageously expensive for what they are. Tires like Wheeleez also seem pricey. Anyway after some poking around I found an affordable tire resource: surpluscenter.com

I got some pneumatic tires 4.10x3.50" for dirt cheap. Just thought some folks might be interested if engaging in similar projects. No affiliation.

Raisingale - I know it's not for building a cart but since you mentioned beach ability + cost, I was in a Costco the other day and noticed they had a beach cart there.  My immediate thought was: "Maybe I can use this to not have to carry everything by hand and shoulder to the beach."  I don't recall the price but I don't think it was outrageous...of course it depends on what you're planning to carry but I might go take a second look.  Thought I'd put that out there in case your local Costco (if you have one) has it stocked.

Most people who build their own end up springing for the commercial carts, the best wheels are also very light and have non metal rims , most carts have a good amount of steel mixed in to them and on the beach they are a nightmare to pull.

There are places that you can get a beach cart cheap , one guy sold one for $50.00 late last year, new in box. The carts really need to be all aluminum. I have a spare frame for one, i might sell that soon.

FYI just saw this @ BJ's Wholesale online and this looks like what I'm talking about edited-no commercial links. Thanks. (if you do a search for cart, you'll see this and other generic carts as well)
