Susky Flats opening day reports

3 posts in this topic

From the info I recieved today, The fish to 22 lbs are on the east side of the flats herding Blueback Herring in the shallows. Many did well today out there with flies and artificials.

I have my batteries charging as I write this. I am going to check this info out first hand tomorrow in the Stealth. East side of the flats are right infront of the Susky Flats launch site.

Mike C, One More Cast and a friend, and I hit the flats from the Fling location yesterday (Saturday). The northeastern portion of the flats was pretty dead; were the fish further south? If so, are there any good access points for kayaks in that area? I did manage to christen my kayak with a 30" class striper, but it must have been luck because that was all the action I saw in several hours. It was definitely worth the trip though; kayaks kick a$$! You could have knocked people off their bass boats with a feather when I lipped that fish from a yak. Hey Porter, add my name to the Fling list!

Jim DE,

The yak guys were in the right place on Saturday; but, the fish were not co-operating! The yaks looked like fun; but, I hope they were already off the water when the first of the storm blew through!

Friday's reports from that area were excellent. The fish got in a little sun-bathing and relief from the cold water! They were in the shallows. The fishermen enjoyed it too!
