Downriggers?

2 posts in this topic

Hi... I'm a yak noob who's been mostly a bottom freshwater fisherman in the past. I am looking to learn how to use the yak for both fresh and saltwater fishing. A couple of questions...

1. I see there are small, manual downriggers that might work with a kayak. Is it comon for ppl to rig downriggers on kayaks?

2. Any pointers on what to look for in a kayak fish finder? Can fish finders give more than the surface temp?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Yeah, you could probaly run a small downrigger, but man, what a bunch of stuff in a yak. Get a small boat. Or use lures that dive. You can get pretty deep with a dipsey diver and diving plug. KISS.

As for FF's. Not only temp, but you can see bottom structure smile.gif Several ways to mount the FF, don't go external with the puck unless it's a last resort. Lot's of good kayak fishing stuff out there if you look around. Scott
