Did my search need a little help with through wire

This will be my first attempt at changing a through wire I read a ton of helpful things throughout this site and on another so I think I have the basics down. I have just one more question, the plugs that I will be redoing are old  40+ years and they show their age, would it be a sound idea to go a little lighter on the pressure to avoid splitting? Not loose just enough to leave a little wiggle room or am I on the wrong path with this idea? Any suggestions would be appreciated

It takes a little practice to get it right, you should be able to go nice and tight without splitting the wood. If you have any issues and want to send me the materials, I don't mind wiring them for you, no charge.

That's a very generous offer and I appreciate it a lot, also thanks for the feed back I'm going to give it a whirl I feel it is something I should learn to do for my own benefit and nothing beats a little practice thanks again

Hi OneGuyWalking,

I am in Smithtown and if you want to see how I do thru wire, I'd be glad to show you.

Regards, Kurt
