Ocean Kayak Prowler

7 posts in this topic

When the Bass leave ,my thoughts soon move towards new gear, flytying etc...I was checking out the Ocean Kayak website and noticed an interesting new model ,the Prowler.Looks good...a big ,long sea tourer seemingly built w/the fisherman in mind.Anyone seen this?Looks like a replacement for the Manta, hopefully w/more leg/foot room.As I'm a big/tall kayak fit that likes to put in the mileage per trip, could be the ticket.Jon, have you got a line on this?

gm, I spoke with Jim, the gent who was the advisor for the prowler, just the other day. Its designed to be the big brother of the Scupper Pro TW. More carrying capacity. It should be a nice kayak but its a bit heavy for me. Of course a big man can handle it. I haven't seen one other than pictures. gm how big we talking? The Cobra Tourer is still the champ for a touring kayak that fishes well and has carrying capacity.

Knew you'd get the story,Jon.Tried out the Cobra tourer(w/Rudder).Could'nt get comfortable w/my knees up in my face. Not enough leg room, especially w/the rudder pedals installed so far up(even on the last, farther most threaded inserts). The Nav's a better fit, though I'd like a yak w/more length.Scupper pro's too tight in the seat.My w/s Freedom is still the best fit,but would like more storage room.A tankwell, more level(friendlier) mounting surfaces for rod/accessories holders, etc...without sacrificing speed/performance.Do you plan to check out the prowler in the future?
