6 posts in this topic

Hi guys,This is my first post on this forum.

I will be on vacation next week and would like to take my wife out for a kyak excursion. I would appreciate any suggestions or input that you could give me.

Thanks.

Welcome mr.freeze. If this is your first time kayaking, I would suggest you find a reputable outfitter who offers tours and training classes. Most places will not rent a sea kayak to a beginner, and their choices of SOT's are pathetic at best (low end Ocean Kayaks usually). Most tours will run $40 to $75 per paddler and include a safety orientation session before your departure. Check out the area you are going to online, most shops that offer trips have extensive info on their web sites as far as what to expect.

Hope this helps out.

I live in Babylon,so it's easy to go anywhere out east.

We took a short kyak trip last year while visiting Alaska and that was awesome.I couldn't take a rod on the yak and there were big schools of salmon all over the place.
