Trolling lures

So far the only lure I've trolled behind my kayak is a Bomber. What's anyone else using? I wouldn't mind getting further down the water column -- not too deep, just somewhat deeper.

I haven't done any trolling in the yak yet, but in Tim's 14 Duranatic we used to troll flies all the time, you can choose which water column you wan't to fish by selecting different sink tips or lines ant they work great.

For conventional or spinning tackle you might want to try the Javelin or Wincheater plugs, they dig a little deeper and are proven when it comes to catching stripers.biggrin.gif

The big "R" -Rapala has to be the king of trolling lures. From the small gold and silver models to the larger saltwater size they work! Be sure and tie them on right so the action is right, vary your yak speed so they move good.A swivel on the line up from the lure will stop line twist, especially with spinning reels.
