shadow line hobie trolling

1 post in this topic

Last night capt mike and I went to a bridge and I discovered another unique method of fishing the hobie. The fish (schoolie stripers)were popping along the shadow line. After realizing how small they were I broke out my 7 foot 5 wheight and trolled along the shadow line with a popper. I held the rod in my right hand and rested my right elbow on the gunnel. With about 20 yards of line out I peddled the boat parralell to the shadow line about 20 yards up current. With my left hand resting on the rudder control lever I could look over my right shoulder and keep the popper within inches of the shadow line as I used my feet to propel the boat from shoreline to shoreline. I kept the boat on a 45 degree angle toward the current so that I stayed a perfect 20 yards from the shadow line. With my left hand on the rudder control this was easy to do. Ending up catching 8 short bass and learned another Hobie trick.
