Recon101

Reconned (now a verb) Milford this AM. LOADED with bunker. Bunker even up in the pond, and getting hit a few times by somethin'. Tooled around in yak for about 1/2 hour (couldn't resist), but only managed to snag bunker with new bunker fly, which looks awesome but is still a virgin. Birds were reconning as well, and there was a proverbial pre-bloodbath energy in the air, so I high-tailed it out of there before things started and I got stuck and would face second bloodbath when wife found doors not yet painted on house... Lots of good fishing left in Milford, I think.

The nice thing about Milford is you can get out of the wind, especially if you head up into the pond, which generally holds stripers and shad, and it's nice to see the big bunker sliding up in there now, too. Note: you can walk your yak across Gulf road to launch on the pond side if the currents ripping the wrong way. If you're feeling strong, it's kind of fun to paddle up, and very fun to run with (as long as you don't end up with a snag hook in your neck form someone fishing off the bridge.) You have to keep rods low and really bend down at high to run under the bridges.
