Anyone getting Albies from the yak yet?

I just emailed a buddy who if they're being caught he's catching them. I'll keep you posted.

 

I can't wait to get some albies from a yak. Its tuff not sunburning the gums. biggrin.gif

Ordinarily, I wouldn't count it, but since you asked, I HOOKED a speedster 2 weeks ago tommorow. I was in Montauk and saw them busting. I hooked one and got him 90% to the yak and dropped him. Didn't get him close enough to differentiate between albie or bonito, but it was definitely one of the two. I had several more shots, but they are finicky this early. I'm on my way to Montauk in the next couple of days, and feel pretty confident that I can get some. I'll let you know.

I am heading north tomorrow in the early am. I will have a yak on the roof if needed. I am really hoping I can get them with my feet in the sand but I will paddle after them if I have too.

They were in abundance off the fire island light house last weekend. Surf was too big for the yak but chased 'em up and down in a friend's parker. He hooked two but boated none.
