DO you need to register kayaks like you do boats or are they more like surf boards in that you don't?

Thanks,

Jim

You do need a launch permit at some State and County facilities in PA. I have a state sticker and the County people think it's fine for their areas also. They really don't have a clue of what you need for a yak. smile.gif

In Penna, You do need to register any yak using a fish comision facility, boat ramp etc.

If you are one foot of of their property however you dont need it.

In maryland, the trigger for registration is propulsion, i.e., if you put a trolling motor on a canoe, it needs to be registered. Paddle-powered craft are exempt.
